Mario Medina (Dist. 13665) spent about 12 hours last Saturday, Aug. 27 "xoing service". He is holding a picture of the child he has sponsored as part of one of his church's program to help underprivileged children get an education and stay in school. He got up at 5:15 AM last Saturday to get to his church to assemble and deliver back packs, shoes and school supplies to needy children who would not otherwise be able to go to school. Here is a little bio on the project:
El Nino is a small village just 25 miles across the Mexican border, a mere 3 hours from Costa Mesa. About 12 years ago, a school sponsorship program was started there to help children go to school, who otherwise would not be able to afford to do so. What started 12 years ago with just 40 kids has now grown to help 600 children have hope for a brighter future!
