Well Cora has been working hard. We have tallied 110hrs over the last couple months, Cora in service jacket training. Again, Cora is our foster puppy now 15th's old. Training to assist a child with Autism. Cora has been with us a year and will be with us until September 2013 when she will be matched with her life partner.

Cora is amazing, brave and calm. Not much distracts her unless of course she is on a free run and sees a bird or squirel. Even then she will only chase if I have released her!!! There are lost of amazing and beautiful things in this world. One of my favorite is the beautiful creation of animals and how they give and love so freely!!

I have been adding our working hours up over the fall/winter...I can't believe that Cora and I have worked 390hours together....it never feels like works. Cora is a one year old "Chocolate Lab" that has lived with us since she was 8weeks old. Cora is our foster puppy and in a program call "Autism Dog Services". We are the front end of Cora's training for her to be matched with a life partner to support their special needs with Autism. Cora (one of many dogs) will provide, independance, companionship and safety for her life partner. Cora is so confident, she amazes me beyond the stars. The other day, she rested comfortably during my sons drum class. Nothing seems to upset Cora, it is like she has a heart of gold and will do everything in her puppy power to be strong and a leader!! She is beautiful and full of love to share. She is willing to let anyone touch her and wanting nothing in return. As my daughter says, she is an angel on earth!! We are already so proud of her and excited for her to spread her wings and move on to her lifes purpose!!

Adam Green Family

As a family with 3 very active teenagers, Melannie and I know that being a teen today is very challenging and much different than it was for us (old) parents.

The Trigger: We saw a Facebook post regarding a family friend of ours whose troubled teen was found at our local County Youth Services Building. We were shocked to read this story and our sadness inspired us to look into this confusing story. Here's what we found:

"At any given time, the Salt Lake Valley has 500 or more homeless youth trying to survive. Last year, the Homeless Youth Resource Center in Salt Lake City saw more than 1,200 teens. Teens between the ages of 15 and 17 years old can’t check into homeless shelters on their own, so many have to find other places to stay warm, from parking garages to closed-down buildings."

"Teens can go to Salt Lake County Youth Services to get overnight shelter and other resources to help stay warm through the winter months. For more, visit www.youth.slco.org."

"The Volunteers of America Utah Chapter is also in the process of raising money to build a shelter for homeless youth. For more information, visit www.voaut.org."

That night, we set a family goal to raise $500 to help the teens in our local area. To be honest, we didn't even know there were homeless teens in our city; how embarassing. Well, we learned. We decided to talk with some caring and resourceful neighbors and came up with a creative Two-Stage Plan:
1. Raise Awareness in December (through Social Media efforts) and
2. Deliver needed item in January.

As a family we then came up with a grass roots social media campaign utilizing Facebook, Twitter and some Blogging. The little efforts we made as a family through social media really gained some attention. Even the local news told us they would help by writing a story about the teens plight in our city. Obviously, the hope of raising more attention to this sad situation was energizing.

Here is the story:
http://fox13now.com/2013/01/03/homeless-teens-struggling-to-find-warmth-in-cold/

We accomplished our goal.

Our Challenge To You: GET INVOLVED.
Spend an hour (this month) to look in to what you can do to help the teens in your own city. You just might be shocked, like we were. Small efforts are huge since this need is usually under the radar. You can make a HUGE difference with a meager effort.

Xo-Heart - Lafayette, IN

As a Xo-Service project from our Xo-Heart team, we would like to ask the support for one of our team members, Lauren Sliva in Houston, Texas. Lauren opened her heart and took in a female stray Boxer mix and next thing she knew, she wound up with 12 puppies! And they all happen to be all shades of chocolate! Lauren and her husband, Leonard as you can imagine are a little stressed. As a huge dog lover - these pups melted my heart. I am appealing to all to please help to support Momma dog, Ella and puppies with food, pet supplies and finding loving, adopting homes, with project “Operation Choco-Puppy Whelp” We would like to ask all team members if they could possibly help by doing a couple of things. 1.) By circulating the photo attachments of the Coco-Clan to see if any one is interested in adopting these pupsters (adopting parents will need to make own arrangements to secure the pup of their choice from Lauren Sliva) Lauren Sliva - 817-874-8417 2.) People in Indiana wanting to adopt, please contact me (Dana Alsop). I will be driving to Texas to pick up adopting puppies for those wanting one. So please get a hold of me, before November 13th. Dana Alsop - 765-426-8781 3.) AND –importantly – here is something every one can do. Let’s all make an effort of kind gesture and help Lauren and Leonard by supporting them with donations toward supplies for Ella’s Colossal Coco-Clan with gift cards to either: TARGET and/or PETSMART. Any donations will be greatly appreciated – please mail to: Lauren Sliva, 312 Eleanor Street, Houston, TX 77009 Thank you to all for your special support!

I haven't recorded/updated in a while. The recorded hours have been since May 1st 2012 to present!! Sadie our last puppy in Training has spread her wings and is now placed with a family and child (8yrs old) with autism. One of the successes that Sadie has assisted her new life friend with is sleeping through the night. This fills my heart, being a mother myself, I can't imagine how tiring it would be to have not had a full nights sleep in over 8years. Blessings to this family for their patience and thankfullness :)! Since saying goodby to Sadie our first puppy in training we have had a new foster puppy join our family. Cora is a "chocolate" lab currently 6 1/2 months old. Cora came to live with us on March 3rd as an 8wk old. She is absolutely amazing. We went out for dinner last night and Cora joined us with the approval of the restaurant owner. She sat under the table staring at scraps of food and wouldn't dare touch it. She was exhausted after the training....although always needs a release. So a run on the beach and swim in the lake was her reward ~ and she loved it!! Cora is silly, brave and confident. She fills our hearts everyday with love and laughter. The service that we are doing.........has never felt like work or service or sacrafice.......what we receive in our hearts by watching these puppies change lives and touch hearts.....is nothing I ever imagined receiving, Nancy Fazakas

We have formed this group of Xocai Distributors to raise money for a different charity each month. We sell boxes of Nuggets to businesses and donate the profits to the charity picked for that month. This is a Win - Win - Win - Win situation. The employees of the business get introduced to our wonderful healthy product. The Business gets a tax write off for the profit portion of the sale - as a charitable donation. The charity gets the profit. And we also get new product and business contacts.

Over the last five weeks we have continued to train Sadie our foster puppy in training. Sadie has been in her jacket and working at an advanced level for the hours recorded. It has been amazing to watch Sadie develop and mature into this role. Sadie is planned to leave us and continue her journey on April 8th. The next step for Sadie will be to match her with a child and their family as well as prepare her for her graduation. A few of the hours recorded are with our new foster puppy Cora. Cora is 12 weeks and has been working at our house as well as short visits to the locate arena and grocery store. She is doing great!!

Share Your Bear - Reynolds' Family

We had a blast this week setting up our Facebook Fan Page, Promoting it to Friends and Family, Making collection bins, contacting Build-A-Bear corporate, Primary Children's Hospital and getting the word out...

Good things ahead for ShareYourBear and XoService!
God Bless Everyone this Holiday!

*****

Dear Ms. Jill Saunders - Director of Bear Relations - Build-A-Bear Workshop,

I was given your business card at the Salt Lake City Gateway Build-A-Bear Workshop when we were there this week. The nice lady there said to contact you with our beary special request.
My 3 kids; McKinley (16), McKayla (13) and PJ (9) are HUGE fans of Build-A-Bear Workshop... so much so that over the years we have gathered quite a collection of furry friends... As our kids are getting older and they are starting to put these friends away in closets and boxes my oldest came up with an idea worthy of a little exploring... Why not give them away to kids in need.

As we discussed this as a family, we determined that we could do a bit better than that... We decided to start a foundation called 'Share Your Bear'. We have started this cause with a simple goal this holiday season to give away at least 200 new and gently hugged bears to kids in need in our community. When we put up our FaceBook fan page it became an instant hit with family and friends (feel free to Like our page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Share-Your-Bear/219375011468795). We are placing bins in our kids schools, a few local businesses, and then we were approached with another idea... Let's give a special friend to each of the kids at Primary Children's Hospital that will be there on an extended stay during the holidays. We have been in contact with the Hospital and they are excited about the possibilities for the kids and have made it clear that they will only be able to receive NEW bears to avoid any germs or dirt some of our furry friends have picked up over the years:)

So, that brings us to our next phase of collection... we started placing plastic bear collection jars around town to raise the money to make this happen! We have started filling the jars and expect to continue through the first 2 weeks of December at which time we will determine how much has been raised and how many new bears we can offer to the kids at PCH. We have had offers from many of our friends from outside of the state of Utah on FaceBook to make donations or give to the cause as well so we are in the process of setting up our 503(c)3 status to accept these donations through a website that will be online soon www.ShareYourBear.com.

Our goal is to share the stories of some of our new friends at PCH along with some photos and their special choice of bear from Build-A-Bear Workshop on our website. That's where you come in... What are the possibilities of getting an online coupon code, gift cards or other means from Build-A-Bear Workshop so that we can make as many bears as possible this holiday to ensure all of the kids that want one get one???

We aren't asking for a hand out, just a hand up in matching the money we spend at Build-A-Bear and we, in return, will promote that we are partnering with Build-A-Bear to make this happen...
PCH in SLC is just the beginning... We already have requests pouring in for next year to expand to other friends in other cities and areas with this endeavor and we'd love to build this up to a nationwide giving foundation within a few years.

Please consider our proposal and let us know if we can count on a partnership with Build-A-Bear this year and in the future...
With hugs,

Jeremy Reynolds

NorthStar Healthy Chocolate

Early winter storm hit the east coast. They sustained severe damage to property, we cut stacked wood and raked leaves for area neighbors of our PA TEAM.

My Family

I took off vacation days to help my neighbor pack, clean and move out of her house. She and her 5 children ranging from 16 down to 6 years old had no place to go once she moved out. We had her live with us for 2 1/2 months until housing kicked in and we could find her a decent place to live. We continued supporting and helping her for the months to come. Once they moved into our house we saw this family go from being traumatized to peace, to very comfortable. I told the teenage daughter in the beginning when she was feeling bad about the situation, that it could happen to anyone and the best way to repay us would be to pass on an acts of service to someone else who may need help.

Team Alaska

We found a small church in Anchorage called Mt View Baptist Church, who have an outreach service every Sunday morning for the homeless and needy people living in their neighborhood. Mt. View is kind of an inner city type low income area on the edge of Anchorage, where there is a lot of drug and gang activity. A lot of needy people with very little, to nothing live there, many in tents. So this church decided to cook a brunch every Sunday, and invite them for a hot meal in a warm building, and show them God's love. They do it EVERY week! And the meals are totally provided by, and prepared and served by members of the church. We were having an opportunity meeting in Anchorage on Saturday, and when we found out it was Darrell Black (MXI Bronze) and his wife Bobby's turn to prepare that meal on Sunday, a bunch of our Alaska Xocai team volunteered to help them. We met at the church at about 9:00 AM and cooked an awesome breakfast for 100 people, and then served it to the group of people that showed up at 11:00 AM. What an awesome experience we all had. The members of our team were Darrell and Bobby Black, their daughter Amy, Deb Main (from Washington), Jan Moorehouse, Kathy Libbey, and Jill Williams. Thank you Andy for your vision for serving others.

Port Charlotte Fl Team

We are all saving plastic grocery bags, folding, cutting, joining together to make a large ball of plarn (plastic yarn). Then the balls are crocheted into 3' x 6' mats. It takes close to 800 bags to make a mat. These will be given to the homeless to insulate whatever they are currently sleeping on from the dampness and cold.

One of our team members (Tim Lindsay) does wood burning and makes beautiful boxes with the cocoa bean and acai berry burned into the wood boxes. He also spells out Xocai the healthy chocolate. He is donating $5.00 from the sale of each box to go along with the mats to our local Homeless Coalition.

These are going to be on going projects for our team.

Xocai Atlanta

Several of our Xocai Atlanta (and Beyond) team were at the ALS Night of Hope Gala last night. What a fun event raising money and awareness for ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. My dear friend and business partner, Libby Patrick, who lost her brother Bill Sims to ALS in July 2007, holds the torch to find a cure for this debilitating and eventually fatal disease. Libby and her family promised Bill before he died that they would do everything in their power to find a cure for what medical professionals as the most cruel and ruthless disease on Earth. Libby and her sister Sherri Hofherr who were on the gala committee, their parents Bill and Betty Sims, as well as Libby’s husband Carl, were all at the event last night.

Some of the Xocai Atlanta (and Beyond) team who were also supporting this important night of fundraising for ALS, were Eileen & Tom Rosencrants, Wes & Sandra Bobbitt (in from Charlotte, NC), and Jim & Caroline King.

The evening’s speakers included Russ Spencer as the Emcee, Bill & Rebecca Leffler, Duane Morrow, and Jordan Ennis. Ed Tessaro was given the “Steve Ennis Hope Award” and gave an inspiring message about his personal fight with ALS. Ariana Savalas flew in from Los Angeles to serenade us like an angel with Somewhere Over the Rainbow and the Black Eyed Peas.

There was much dancing and singing all night long too. Basically, this was a super fun, well-run event that raised a lot of money for ALS research!

$5,101 and counting! That is what we raised last night at our Chocolate for Children fundraiser in Atlanta, GA benefiting CURE Childhood Cancer. What a night!

Dawn Stark with CURE Childhood Cancer spoke about the mission of the organization and explained to us that only 2% of federal research money is directed toward pediatric cancer research. Pat King shared his story about his sweet daughter, Merrill King, who lost her battle with cancer the second time around. He talked about not only how important the research is that CURE helps to fund, but also how they help to take care of the families as they live through their ordeals with childhood cancer. Libby Patrick, a childhood cancer survivor, shared about her passion to help people stay healthy at the cellular level by telling them about high antioxidant Healthy Chocolate.

We had both a live and silent auction that were a huge success, thanks to very generous people who supported the event. Some of the hits of the live auction were a “Winter Wonderland in Montana” luxury get-away for 5 days, a cottage in St. Simons over Memorial Day weekend, a full infertility workup from Servy Massey Fertility Institute, and magnum of CakeBread wine and Piper-Heidsieck champagne. The silent auction ended up having some fierce bidding wars and featured art by Betsy Cozine, Bruce Edelstein, Patrick Dennis, and others; jewelry & accessories from Pearlworks by Sandy Jones and Sassy Scarves; consultation with Dr. Maureen Vellia; a portrait sitting with Margie Erdoes Photography; and a theater and pamper package (Atlanta Symphony tickets, gift certificate to Gallery Cafe & a free haircut at Maria Heckter Salon).

Thank you to everyone who came to support our first annual Chocolate for Children. I also want to especially thank Kim and Joseph Kawach for opening their restaurant Basil’s and being so generous with their amazing Mediterranean food and wine.

German Shepherds ROC

I got involved with this incredible German Shepherd rescue about 2.5 years ago. Over the years, I have logged in many volunteer hours :) Most recently, I maintain the records, coordinated the blood donor program, helped transport dogs needing medical attention and bring them to adoption events to meet their hopeful new families. It's extremely rewarding to find loving homes for these helpless, beautiful animals. Plus, I have found a community of caring people, some of whom I now call friends. Check out my picture. That's Midas one of the rescue dogs that stole my heart (and my home :). A big part of my "Why" is to have the time and resources to make a significant difference and be an advocate for these unfortunate animals who depend on us unconditionally.

Over the last two weeks we have had Sadie our Autism Dog in training in her jacket for 31 hours. This mean that Sadie is working while she is in her jacket. She is very focused and on task in training. When we return home and remove the jacket she runs in the yard and chases our family cat. Sadie is getting ready to leave our home to prepare for her exam. Many blessing to this furry friend she is amazing!!!!

Mario Medina (Dist. 13665) spent about 12 hours last Saturday, Aug. 27 "xoing service". He is holding a picture of the child he has sponsored as part of one of his church's program to help underprivileged children get an education and stay in school. He got up at 5:15 AM last Saturday to get to his church to assemble and deliver back packs, shoes and school supplies to needy children who would not otherwise be able to go to school. Here is a little bio on the project:

El Nino is a small village just 25 miles across the Mexican border, a mere 3 hours from Costa Mesa. About 12 years ago, a school sponsorship program was started there to help children go to school, who otherwise would not be able to afford to do so. What started 12 years ago with just 40 kids has now grown to help 600 children have hope for a brighter future!

Donation of money to buy backpacks & supplies for children in the local elementary school. As many people are out of work, getting what their children need to do their school work and activities can be difficult. It took 15 of us to pack all of the supplies into the backpacks that were then delivered to the school for distribution to the children whose families were facing financial difficulties.

Our team is made up of our Family members: Lyndon, Christina, Noah and Lydia Babulal. We donated time by going grocery shopping for the local food bank. The kids were allowed to pick all sorts of foods that they would want to see on their tables. Then we dropped the food off at the Alliston, ON Good Shephard Food Bank and weighed over 45 pounds of food. Some ladies volunteering there were crying when they found out the kids had saved their own allowance money to donate to the food bank.

We fill out prescription applications for people who are low income and have no insurance. Our courier takes the apps to the Dr office. After Doctor signs app and writes scripts-our courier pick up the info and bring it back to the office. We add the financial info and send all into pharmacy companies. The company sends meds to home of patient or to Dr office and they can get them free. Sometimes we deliver to the patient if they are homebound.

XoCareAndShare.com TEAM

Members of the XoCareAndShare.com TEAM built, delivered & donated eight nursery bat houses to Indiana State University's Center for North American Bat Research and Conservation for a fund-raising auction held annually at their Bat Festival in Terre Haute, IN.
As fellow mammals (but they can fly...), the over than 1100 species of bats discovered to date, are extremely helpful to our agriculture, our world & our lives.
It was exciting for us to learn bats actually help some with pollination & much with seed dispersal of the cacao tree which is obviously where our healthy chocolate originates. Much of the current research is showing typical cacao plantations may actually produce more & better when left or managed in a more natural state. Now that man is getting smart enough to realize that maybe old mother nature isn't so dumb after all, we can get moving toward some win-win solutions which would prove beneficial to the bats, the rain-forests, the local communities & all of us who enjoy the benefits of “good” food.
Unfortunately bats are getting “whammied” by two things right now. A simple little fungus called the “White Nose Syndrome” & Wind Farms. They need our help as much as we need them. Serious help.
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has declared 2011-2012 as the “Year of the Bat.” Their activities & knowledge awareness programs are centered around a theme called "Together with Bats" & much can found at www.yearofthebat.org or Bat Conservation International's site at www.batcon.org. Of course, be sure to check out ISU's Bat Center site at www.isubatcenter.org too.

Xo-Heart by Team Lafayette, IN

Project Heart & Honor – honor the 10th Anniversary of 911 by giving kindness from your heart to our soldiers that are stationed on the front lines. Here is something we would like to encourage every Xocai Team to do - it is easy. This can be done as a family or make it group project at your office, church, neighborhood, etc. My cousin, in Florida specializes in dog training and has a friend name Lance Cote who is a Sgt. in the Army and is a Bomb Dog Handler. His K9 partner is Vogan - their unit is station on the front lines in Afghanistan and are living out of a village fighting the Taliban – these men, women and K9 have a special request of items.

They really need: * Baby Wipes since when they go on missions there are no showers! * Powdered Gatorade * Candy and Beanie Babies/Small Toys to give to kids they meet and * Tough toys and Treats for K9s too! * Really anything would be appreciated! AND if you can include a letter to let them know we, state-side care and are proud of them. Your simple act of kindness of a care package will mean the world to them.

Just send a flat rate box full of stuff to the address below and the Army will get it to them – Flat Rate boxes are available at the post office for FREE.

Here is the address and you will have to fill out a customs form
Sgt Lance Cote
NSW PLT 1711,
FOB WARRIOR, APO
AE 09311

Sgt. Lance will share these packages with others and spread the wealth of kindness from all the state-side people.

PS — it was suggested by the US Postal Service to ensure your package gets to the soldier in the event that the address on the box is unreadable or the box has been opened or is damaged. LIST LANCE’s NAME and ADDRESS on THE INSIDE OF THE PACKAGE.

Thanks for taking time showing kindness to the military people & dogs serving our country. If you want please forward on this email to others too! Thank you for your time!

Phil's Friends strives to provide support and comfort to those who are fighting cancer. One of the main ways they are able to bring this sense of ease into one’s life is by delivering God’s Word. There is much to be found when searching for ourselves through God.

Phil's Friends also distributes care packages to cancer patients and their families. We hold fund raising events such as the Annual Walk-A-Thon as well as concerts with the likes of Avalon, 33 Miles and Mark Schultz. We are establishing national chapters and a widespread volunteer base to help cancer patients and their families across the country.

The purpose of our charity is, “to bring hope”. People are diagnosed with cancer every day. People with cancer often experience support needs. Many have no place to turn. We all need comfort, peace, and joy. Phil’s Friends is a faith-based charity that seeks to provide “the hope” we all need.

We came together as a team because all of us has been touch by cancer and decided to have all our funds donated to the American Cancer Society in one name. The Pat Keady Memorial Fund. She was the wife of one of our team members who is a nationally known collegiate former head men's basketball coach, Gene Keady. The weekend of this event fell on the week that was the anniversary of his wife (Pat) passing from cancer and a heart attack two years ago. We wanted to help Coach get through this tough time and do something positive in his wife's honor. What was unique about this Relay was it was all relay for the Purdue campus and they wanted wanted to get more staff and faculty involved. But no one stepped up to the plate, so the Lafayette team with Coach Keady decided to do so. Because Coach Keady was there, this brought alot of people to come to the event and participate. Most of teams in the relay had nine months to prepare for this event and collect funds. We jumped in 4 weeks before the Relay event and got creative in securing our funds and gave 100% participation by each donating something in the silent auction -our team raised over $4,200. We also had the oldest cancer survivor on our team - 94 year old, William Goff, who is the father of one of our Xocai members (Dawn Copas). It was fun night of bonding for our team, we generated funds for cause and helped one of our team members get through a tough time.

Some families are just special and we enjoy helping them when we can. People who are in rehab from extensive surgeries may have to spend months in a nursing home to get the care they need. These folks love for a chance to get out and go shopping, run errands, go out to eat, etc. Most of the time they don't need any specially trained personnel to help them in and out of a vehicle. My daughter and I pick these dear people up in our little VW cabrio, strap the wheelchair(s) in the trunk, and have an afternoon of blessings about once per week. By the way, my chocolate money paid for my car and I'm glad to use it to help our community. Thank you MXIcorp for helping me add value to people's lives.

Truly Blessed By Chocolate, SF-Bay Area California

One Act of Change that changed me deeply happened in front of a Safeway store. I was going in to grab a few items and noticed a man outside with a small table collecting money for a rehab unit, which was not unusual for someone who was a resident of the rehab unit. I went in, bought my items then as I was leaving, I realized that I hadn’t done my Act of Change for the day so I decided to throw $4.00 into the can that he used to collect the money. I felt pretty proud of myself. I normally put in 1 or 2 dollars. Today I doubled it. “That was really nice of me”, I thought to myself, feeling oh-so-generous. Then I heard that ‘still small voice” chiding me saying,” Really? $4.00? You LOSE that much money in one day!! Was that your best gift?” I had long since learned to honor that “still small voice”, because it was relentless if I didn’t follow its prompting, so I put my groceries in the car and went back to the man. I struck up a conversation with him and asked him how long he was going to be in front of the store. 7 hours was his reply, so I decided to go back into the store and buy him some breakfast and lunch items along with fresh fruit and drinks with extra money for cold drinks in the afternoon. When I presented him with the goodies he was very surprised and very appreciative. I was happy and feeling more than a little smug. Again, the “still small voice” demanded my attention. “That was good, but did you do that for him or for yourself? Who did that serve? Was that your best gift?” Ugh!!! Again, that voice knew the condition of my heart. But what was my best gift? The voice pointed out that I did a great thing FOR him, but it was done in a very US vs THEM kind of attitude. Did I even see him? Did I look into his eyes and see into his soul? Did I want to see? Did I even ask him his name? As I walked to my car, again, I realized that the “still small voice” that I believe to be the Spirit of God, was right on all points. I didn’t ‘See’ him. I was smug with pride. I didn’t give him my best gift. So…. I turned around and went back to the man and gently asked him, ” How do you come to be here today?” “It may take a little bit of time to tell you…” “No, problem, I’ve got all the time you need.” was my reply, and for the next 45 minutes I listened as he told me of his up-bringing, the foster homes, dropping out of school, time in the military, his short marriage, the birth of his daughter, his path to drugs and addictions and now his time in Recovery. He shared his hopes in building a new relationship with his daughter and hoping that its not too late. I listened to him share and was moved to give him a long healing hug, sharing several breaths with him. I offered to pray for him and the reconciliation of his relationships and for total healing body, mind, soul and spirit, which he accepted. As I walked away, I knew that I gave him the best gift I could. I gave him the gift of listening and my undivided attention. It was my honor to meet this man and to hear his story. I will never forget him. He taught me how to truly give. And his name is Larry Robinson.
I learned to be a better giver that day and have used that experience to measure the value of my giving. I hope we will all be amazing givers in our service to this world.

Rapids such as Lunch Counter (Class 3.5 rapid), Champange, 47 Presidents, and Big Kahuna were a thrill to ride! Day 2 ended with the High C.O.P.E course and day 3 was Mountain Biking through Bridger National Forest... What an amazing 3 day adventure giving back to the Boy Scouts!

Xo-hio

A dear lady recently underwent a surgical procedure that left her right leg amputated. She lives in a two bedroom townhouse and needs to move to the one bedroom, one floor apartment. She gives glory to God every day for the many blessings in her life including her mentally disabled daughter who she has raised by herself. You see, she is a widow, and while she was married, they conceived a child. She was told to terminate the pregnancy or she would lose her sight due to complications with diabetes. This dear lady is blind now and her daughter is an adult who has successfully graduated high school. They are wonderful and Xo-hio is honored to help them in any way we can.

Xo Atlanta Dream Team

The Xocai Atlanta Team, including Caroline King, Tricia Holder and Stacey Adams, participated in Lauren’s Run to CURE Childhood Cancer today. The 5K Fun Run (or walk, in our case) was tons of fun with lots of people out there walking in the beautiful Atlanta, Georgia weather. We think it’s important to give back and have fun together!

Lauren’s Run, founded in 1992 in memory of Lauren Zagoria, a precious two-year old from Atlanta with big, golden curls, and continuing also in memory of Lauren Kochman, a beautiful 3 year old with big brown eyes who lost her battle with neuroblastoma just before the first Lauren’s Run took place. Lauren’s Run has raised more than $3 million for pediatric cancer research. For more information on Lauren’s Run please visit www.curechildhoodcancer.org.

CURE is a non-profit organization dedicated to conquering childhood cancer through research, education, and support of patients and their families. Mission: CURE Childhood Cancer was founded in 1975 by parents who knew firsthand the heartbreak and fear of having a child with cancer. They set out to improve the odds for these kids and help their families face the challenge. Due to research, much progress has been made since that time. The survival rate for children with cancer has increased dramatically to its current rate of nearly eight out of ten. Best of all, researchers feel they will discover a cure in our lifetime. Until then, there is much to be done, and that is where CURE comes in. They believe childhood cancer can be cured. CURE’s mission includes funding important research and providing support programs to help children and their families deal with this dreadful disease.

Paris Pups

Sadie our foster puppy spent 6 hours today in her jacket working beside me. She followed training commands and proper manners in a social/public setting. Preparing her for her jouney to her exam~where she will become a registered service dog that will help support an entire family that has a child with autism. Sadie will create security, comfort, unconditional love, and an extra set of hands or paws for the parents, aiding them by being harness to the child. I feel so blessed to have this opportunity to support other families. This is our families project is serving others :)

I spent 1 hour today training Sadie our foster puppy. Sadie is in our care as we are training her to complete her exam to assist a family that has a child with autism.

I Love Healthy Chocolate, NC

Our "I Love Healthy Chocolate, NC" Xocai Service team will be building a fence free of charge for an individual who has kept their dog chained. Dogs who are chained are depressed & stressed and become relaxed & playful when they are released into their newly fenced yard. Our inspiration for this project is our team member, Donna Gray, who has been donating her time to this wonderful organization for 4 years, averaging 15-20 hours per week. Donna- we love you! You are our special Xocai angel!
The Coalition to Unchain Dogs is a non-profit, volunteer effort dedicated to improve the welfare of dogs living outdoors on chains. In the past 4 years, they have unchained 1000 dogs!! Please visit www.unchaindogs.net for more information.

On October 30, 2010 Sadie our Foster Pup came to our home. Sadie is a project my family and I agree to as something we could do to serve others. Many times I am overwhelmed by the blessing I have been given with two healthy and able children. It makes my heart ache when I think of how and what some Mom's deal with every day. I have always wondered how to give to other children other than my own. Sadie is one way I have found. She comes with me everyday, hours of training differ every day ~ just depends on what our schedule looks like. Our goal is to train Sadie for an A+ on her exam so she can then, go to a family to assist them with the special needs that autism bring to a family.

Green Family

Bryston (17), Elliot (12) and Adam Green (an immature 42) had an opportunity to help today with some XoService. A frantic neighbor came over to the house almost in tears; she had a serious need! The handy boys volunteered to help the local Girl's Group prepare for their annual Summer Camp by repairing camping equipment, cleaning storage bins and loading the cargo trucks with supplies (http://www.AdamPaulGreen.com).

In fact, they were so short on space that Adam also loaned them his prized Xocai chocolate truck for the day so they could deliver all the goodies up to Midway, Utah (1 hour away).

"It was fun to help the girls! But man, girl's pack too much" ~Adam

Team MXI Corp

MXI Corp once again had the opportunity to go to the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission to serve dinner to the Homeless, as well, we brought dessert. They LOVED the ice cream sandwiches!! We had a great time and it's neat to see the relationships growing as they get to know us and we get to know them. One gentleman said, " Can we expect you next week, we love seeing you". They need some consistency in their lives and we are so happy to be there for them. Volunteering once a week at RSGM brings us so much satisfaction and love!

Team MXI Corp

MXI Corp had the opportunity on June 8th to go and serve dinner to many of the homeless people of Reno at the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission. We were able to visit with the people, while serving them and we each came away from the shelter with our own thoughts of gratitude and appreciation. One of the homeless women made a comment, “it’s nice to talk with people who are normal and who want to talk to us.” Our hearts have been filled and we are eager to do more with XoService!
